Thermoplastic splinting material by Rolyan Aquaplast is flexible and accommodating, offering a personalized fit either temporarily or as a long-term bond. The various percentage of perforation patterns facilitates different recommended uses.  The 100% memory of these latex-free splinting materials enables warming and reuse of the same material for new splints. Maximum support is offered by thermoplastic sheets with a low perforation percentage. While thermoplastic sheets with a larger perforation percentage have more support flexibility.

Solid VS Perforated Aquaplast-T Splinting Material Sheet

  • Solid: Maximum support.
  • Perforated: Perforated (1%, 2% or 2.5%) for slight ventilation and added comfort without compromising rigidity.
    Tip: Material softens quicker when heated.
  • UltraPerf, OptiPerf, SuperPerf: UltraPerf (13%), OptiPerf (19%), Lightweight provides greater ventilation for increased comfort and compliance. SuperPerf (38% or 42%) for lighter weight, exceptional ventilation and greater comfort and compliance.
    Tip: For additional support, select a thicker material, with higher perforations.
    Tip: Higher perforations soften quicker when heated and soften quicker and cool faster when heated.

  • Only use a heat gun for spot-heating and adjustments.

Note: Overheating splinting materials increases the draping/stretching characteristics; allow material to cool slightly before handling to avoid excess stretching.

How to Care & Clean Thermoplastic Splinting Material Rolyan Aquaplast?

  • Store at temperatures between 40° and 90°F (4° and 32°C) and less than 65 percent relative humidity. Avoid prolonged exposure to light, especially ultraviolet. Avoid exposure to corrosive and ethylene oxide fumes.
  • Formed splints will lose their shape in temperatures over 135°F(57°C) and should be kept away from sources of heat such as ovens, hot water, and car windows.
  • Clean splint with soap and lukewarm water. Allow splint and straps to dry thoroughly before reapplication.

Precautions For Finished Orthoses

  • Splint adjustments are to be made only by a health care professional, who is responsible for providing wearing instructions and precautions to other practitioners, care providers and the patient.
  • If unusual swelling, skin discoloration or discomfort occurs, discontinue use and consult a health care professional.
