Vasyli Prior Low Profile Sports Orthotic is a thin shoe insert that helps with tight muscles in the back of your leg, especially when you wear flat sports shoes. It has a small 4mm lift at the heel. The 3-degree incline at the back and the 4mm lift create a small support on the inner side of your foot, which helps without being bulky. It has a low bump in the middle for comfort and a dense, heat-moldable shell that can be customized to fit your foot better.

What is Vasyli Orthotic made of?

  •  Vasyli Prior Low Profile Sports Orthotic are made primarily of ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA), a microcellular foam used extensively in the midsole of most quality sports footwear
  •  The EVA has polymer additions to stabilize the material during the heat-molding process and to extend the life of the product
  • Other compounds used are polyurethane (PU) and Rebound EVA (for shock absorption)
  • The top cover is brushed nylon

How to Use Vasyli Prior Orthotic?

Wearing in and Care:

  • It may take a few days for your feet to become accustomed to orthotics
  • If any discomfort occurs, remove them for one or two hours, then wear them again
  • Continue to do so until comfortable
  • If any discomfort continues, consult your physician

Heat Molding of Vasyli Prior Orthotics:

  • Remove - where possible, any existing insole from the patient's footwear.
  • Place the orthotic of the choice base on a heat-resistant surface.
  • Apply heat in a waving motion into the rear foot over the thermal indicator and STC areas.
  • The heating temperature should approximate 200°F - 90°C.
  • When the Thermal Indicator and STC lettering disappears you have reached a molding temperature.
  • Place the orthotic into footwear and with the patient sitting fit the shoe.
Note: the patient should be wearing socks for the fitting procedure - fitting is done one shoe at a time.
  • Place the patient into STJ neutral via the Talo-Navicular technique and support this position while the patient stands with weight evenly distributed on both feet.
  • IMPORTANT: Maintain the STJ neutral position throughout weight bearing by tightly holding the tibia before and during standing.
  • Cup the heel, mold along the medial arch profile and push down into the forefoot.
  • Have the patient sit, remove the shoe, take out the orthotic, and allow it to cool
  • Repeat the process for the opposite foot.

To Clean:

  • Simply wipe the cover with a damp cloth
  • In the unlikely event of odor build-up, the custom orthotic can be wiped with an antibacterial solution

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do they last?

Typically, they last 12 to 18 months. Review them every 6 months or if symptoms return.

Can you reheat them?

Yes, you can reheat them, but it won't restore rearfoot control. Rearfoot additions are needed for that.

Do they have to be worn in pairs?

Yes, always wear them as pairs to balance both lower limbs.

What are they made of?

Primarily made of EVA foam, commonly used in sports shoes. Also includes PU and Rebound EVA for shock absorption. The top cover is brushed nylon.

Do they have to be heat-molded?

Not necessarily. They come pre-configured for most foot types, but heat molding allows fine-tuning. Many practitioners find it unnecessary for good control.
