How to use Coloplast Freedom Cath Male External Condom Catheter?

	1. Select the proper size of the external catheter by using the Medical sizing guide. Place the sizing guide across the shaft of the penis to find the appropriate size. For comfort and effectiveness, choose the size closest to the width of the penis.
	2. Things the user need to have include the condom catheter, a collection bag with a connecting tube, non-pointed manicure scissors, soap (avoid using soaps that leave a cream or residue on the skin), a washcloth, and towel.
	3. Remember to wash hands before beginning to reduce the risk of infections. Trim hairs on the shaft and base of penis, and any other pubic hair that might interfere with the adhesive on the coloplast condom catheter
	4. For the catheter adhesive to perform properly, the skin must be clean and very dry. Before application wash penis with mild soap and warm water. Make sure that the area is completely dry before proceeding.
	5. Place the rolled self-adhering catheter over the penile tip. Unroll the catheter slowly and carefully, leaving just enough space in the funnel end so the tip of penis does not rub against the inside of the funnel. If uncircumcised, be sure to leave the foreskin in place over the head of the penis
	6. Smoothen any wrinkles in the catheter. Gently squeeze the catheter to properly to seal it to the skin. Wear time may be significantly reduced if the adhesive is not properly sealed. Note: Too many wrinkles in the catheter may indicate that an inappropriate size has been selected. A smaller catheter may be more effective.
	7. Strap the urine collection bag to the thigh or calf, depending on activities and clothing. Connect one end of the tubing to the catheter and cut the tubing to a comfortable length. The tubing should not exert unnecessary pressure on the catheter. Connect the cut end to the leg bag. Always empty the leg bag before it becomes uncomfortably full and pulls on the catheter.
	8. Wear time will vary from user to user. For proper hygiene, a male external catheter must be changed every 24 hours.
